I have worked for the state of California for 36 years. I have a deep, vested interest in protecting our retirement and healthcare security.

That’s why I am running for the state agency position to be your trustee on the CalPERS board. 

For the last 30 years, I have performed information technology work for the Department of Education—troubleshooting problems, upgrading systems, working with tech geeks—the usual IT work that we can’t live without. When there’s a glitch, I help bring in the right team to fix it.

I am proud of my work as a union leader at SEIU Local 1000. I worked my way up through the ranks from a steward to become President of my 1500 member District Labor Council.  I’ve learned not to shy away from asking tough questions of management. We bargain contracts, represent our members at the worksites and look for ways to improve workplace conditions. 

Serving on the CalPERS Board is an awesome responsibility. I am ready to step up and represent the fiduciary interests of all state employees. Our retirement fund has over $600 billion dollars of assets. I’m an IT professional—I know how to ask questions to get answers in language that we can all understand. I’ll do the same on the CalPERS board to ensure we invest wisely and protect our retirement and healthcare security.

I am a next-generation builder, not a gatekeeper. We meet our challenges by encouraging participation and operating in an open, transparent manner. Working together, we can keep our pensions safe and our health care affordable and accessible.
